King Charles III, a passionate advocate of apprenticeships, reaches the throne

For many of us, the coronation taking place on Saturday, May 6th, will be the first of our lifetimes. At JTL, we are pleased to welcome King Charles to the throne, particularly for his foundational work in bringing attention to apprenticeships and other vocational pathways.

As recently as 2022, King Charles was quoted as saying “apprenticeships are vital” in a television broadcast where he discussed the importance of vocational pathways in the country. Charles, of course, launched The Prince’s Trust charity in 1976 to offer better opportunities to disadvantaged young people in the UK.

Talking of the trust, Charles said “I see the difference we can make to people who have technical skills which we need all the time.

“Quite a lot of people we’ve trained on these courses come back as tutors, so you get a wonderful circle. Some of them will be coming back for years, filling the skills gaps.”

The Prince’s Foundation, of which Charles also oversaw, offers its own Building Craft ‘apprenticeship.’ Equally, the Prince’s Trust provides free guidance to young people looking into apprenticeship routes, and is able to offer grants to help with any additional course fees.

As a long serving royal, the Queen’s heir apparent, and as a shared campaigner for the ideals we believe in for the country’s future, we at JTL are delighted to honour King Charles as he makes his accession on May 6th.
