JTL is pleased to announce that our very first cohort of Gas Network Craftsperson (GNC) apprentices have completed their apprenticeships and are now fully qualified.

These technical standards have been steered by a trailblazer group of employers; Northern Gas Networks, Southern Gas Networks and Cadent, in direct response to industry demand due to the growing need for gas engineers across the utilities sectors.

Completing their Level 3 training at Burn Hall in Yorkshire and with their employer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN); eight apprentices have qualified in GNC Pressure Management, and five in GNC Electrical & Instrumentation, having completed the four year standard and passed rigorous End Point Assessments (EPA).

The skills they have gained will see them installing and maintaining safe gas network equipment in a growing sector playing a pivotal role in the UK’s transition to net zero. Having trained with JTL they have benefitted from the very latest techniques and equipment, on a standard that has been designed by industry for industry.

This is a landmark moment for both JTL and NGN as it is the first time apprentices have completed these programmes with the two companies.

Chris Adair, Training and Apprenticeship Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said:

“It has been fantastic to support this cohort of apprentices as they’ve navigated the challenging process of gaining this qualification with JTL and Northern Gas Networks.

The skills they’ve learned will be applicable across a range of roles in this industry, and a career in gas and utilities is both relevant and rewarding as we accelerate to net zero and service domestic, commercial and industrial users.”

Sam McKenna, Training Officer with JTL said:

“We are incredibly proud to see this cohort complete their apprenticeship, they’ve all worked hard to reach this milestone and can continue in the workforce as highly-skilled professionals already bringing value to the business.”
