Government incentive grant for employers extended

The chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has announced the £3,000 incentive payment for employers who hire an apprentice of any age has been extended from 30 September 2021 to 31 January 2022.

JTL welcomes the news of the extension of the incentive payment in the hope that it will continue to encourage employers to take on apprentices and help fill the skills gap in the building services engineering sector.

The extension is part of the £500 million jobs support package expansion to help with the economic recovery following the Coronavirus pandemic. In a recent progress report, it was revealed that since the Plan for Jobs scheme was announced in July 2020, more than 85,000 apprentices have been hired, 75% of which have been under 25-years-old.
