JTL, one of the leading apprenticeship providers in the building services engineering sector in England and Wales, has announced a new partnership with Chelmsford College to deliver its services from a new location on the college’s campus.

Recruitment is officially open at JTL’s Chelmsford College centre which has begun its 2023 intake of applicants. As a specialist site, it will deliver plumbing and heating apprenticeships on a day release basis from brand new facilities currently being installed.

These facilities include a modern, industry-standard plumbing workshop for learners to engage in practical training, as well as a purpose-built classroom to provide apprentices with the fundamental theory that underpins their work.

Learners who undertake the four-year plumbing and heating apprenticeship will train towards a lifetime career working in domestic, commercial, and industrial environments.

JTL manages the apprenticeship process by placing learners with a local employer, as well as providing them with a dedicated training officer and a free toolkit.

Judi Wheeler, National Delivery Director at JTL, said: “Our newly formed partnership with Chelmsford College offers a new future to the learners of this area whilst invigorating local businesses as we train their future employees. We’re really looking forward to welcoming in a new intake of Chelmsford apprentices and showing them the wealth of opportunities available within the plumbing and heating sector.

“Apprenticeships function as a fantastic alternative to higher education for hundreds of thousands every year. It’s a decision more and more are learning is a route to develop independence, financial freedom, and essential skills that support lifelong careers.”

Simon Drane, Director of Curriculum at Chelmsford College, stated: “We are extremely excited to be working in partnership with JTL to ensure that collectively, we meet the skills requirements of employers within the region. This much needed facility will enable us to train, educate, and inspire our next generation of plumbers.

“Strategic partnerships are critical in ensuring we are meeting local and regional needs within the City of Chelmsford and Central Essex and we are looking forward to delivery in 2023.”
