The Apprenticeship Qualification Achievement Rates (QAR) for training providers during 2023/24 have been officially released by the Department for Education today, Thursday 27 March, allowing for comparison of performance across apprenticeships providers.
JTL is proud that our own achievement rate has again increased and also that the overall QAR across all apprenticeship providers has increased by 6%.
JTL’s Chief Executive, Chris Claydon, shares his thoughts:
“Yesterday we heard from the Chancellor about growth and productivity; how skills are at the heart of the Government’s missions. Today we see how Independent Training Providers are powering that growth with their improved apprenticeship achievement rates.
JTL’s achievement rate has increased, it stands at 63.9%; up from 62.8% in 2022/23 and 61.4% in 2021/22. The improvements are by design, not coincidence, we have evolved over recent years to an even more learner-focused approach – reducing caseloads, focusing entirely on quality. That is because this workforce, electricians and plumbers, have to be occupationally competent and safe to practice. It is to the benefit of the whole industry that the overall QAR has increased. High standards are critical and consistently performing providers should be recognised and appropriately resourced.
As a large apprenticeship provider we work with our industry partners to share best practice, embrace learning curves and break down barriers to achievement. Achievement rates are only part of the picture on quality and there is more to do here.
I expect to see JTL’s achievement rate continue to climb, along with the volume of apprentices that successfully complete, directly putting more qualified electricians and plumbers into the workforce to make house-building, net zero technologies and key infrastructure projects a reality sooner.”
